1st EMANICS Workshop on Peer-to-Peer Management (2008)

The goal of this workshop is to exchange ideas in the area of peer-to-peer (P2P) management.

P2P networking concepts have been applied successfully in different areas of Internet-based communication, including P2P file sharing, P2P telephony, and P2P video streaming. P2P-based applications are known to scale well and to achieve a high robustness against failures. However, due to the absence of a central point of control, the management of P2P networks as well as the use of P2P principles for management remains a challenge.
This workshop will address the application of P2P concepts for network and service management, the management of P2P networks, as well as fully decentralized and distributed management approaches. The program will include presentations from several EMANICS members who have done work in this area or who have performed experiments on EmanicsLab, the research network of EMANICS.

The workshop is open to the public. However, all participants are kindly asked to register for this workshop. Registration is free. Deadline for registration: February 18, 2008.

WLAN access will be provided on site, together with the necessary directions.

Coffee/tea breaks will be held in the meeting room. The lunches will be taken in the University Mensa, which can be reached inside the building in about 3 minutes.

The social event will be held outside the University premises and we do require to run a joint tram/bus ride. Thus, timing is CRUCIAL and essential for all participants.

Time to leave for social event: 18.05 hours sharp from CSG@IFI at the end of the first workshop day.
