About

Guilherme is a guest researcher in the CSG and he works on topics related to Blockchain technologies and Cloud systems. Moreover, he works as a Senior Software Engineer in the industry. For more information about his professional activities, refer to his personal website.

He received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from University of Zürich (UZH) in 2015, supervised by Prof. Burkhard Stiller and co-supervised by Prof. Filip De Turck. He also holds an M.Sc. (2009) and B.Sc. (2006) degrees in Computer Science from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), and the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul, respectively.

His Ph.D. thesis is entitled "A Cloud Storage Overlay to Aggregate Heterogeneous Cloud Services", focusing on turning several heterogeneous Cloud services into one single user-perceived storage entity with the support of centralized and distributed systems. In addition, his work addressed problems in the area of Cloud service's data validation, monitoring of Clouds, and data reliability across multiple independent Clouds.

During his M.Sc. degree, he worked on a research project called ChangeLedge funded by Hewlett-Packard R&D Brazil, which was focused on Change Management in Information Technology (IT) systems. More specifically, was developed a solution to support Rollback in IT Change Management systems. In 2008 he worked at HP Labs Bristol, UK, since ChangeLedge was a joint project between UFRGS and HP Labs.

In the past, Guilherme also developed some research in Network Security area (more focused on printer devices) with projects funded by Hewlett-Packard R&D Brazil. He was responsible to find security flaws in high-end HP printers (aiming high impacts for enterprise devices), developing automated tests to reproduce security issues.
