Project Overview

The UZH is especially part of the Business Experiment 22: BE22 AgroGrid (Grid Technologies in Agro Food Business). Making use of Grid technology, AgroGrid offers Dynamic VO Management services in agriculture value chains. Food producers will benefit from an on-demand value chain composition according to an expressed production need, on one hand, and in agreement with announced production capacities, on the other hand. Upstream, food retailers will have a means at hand for improved demand-driven product sourcing that integrates with deployed enterprise resource planning software. All services are designed in a way that ensures a food business' data ownership and safety.

Consumers will profit at the same time from better documented choices of fresh and safe products based on dependable trustworthy product quality information. AgroGrid emphasizes on an integrative Quality Management from farm to fork. It enables continuous tracking, determination of quality, and, in case of an incident, allows fast collection of relevant data from distributed systems to ensure reliable intervention such as recalls.
