Project Overview

The key goal of the AMAAIS project is the extension of the existing AAI infrastructure, operated by SWITCH. These extensions include services in terms of accounting and monitoring, which enhance the current AAI services. In consequence, a cross-university-wide accounting as well as supervision of these AAI services will be possible. While AMAAIS Phase 1 defined the essential scenarios as well as key requirements for the accounting and monitoring architecture, AMAAIS Phase 2 specified this architecture, implemented a prototype, and integrated a pilot into the existing AAI infrastructure. AMAAIS Phase 3 aimed at an extension beyond the accounting and monitoring extensions of Phases 1 and 2. Phase 3 extensions related not only to a content- and implementation-wise completion of the system, they also embraced the addition of new functionality and trials under operational conditions.

The primary goal of extending the AMAAIS project on Phase 4, is long-term project sustainability. With the availability of a SWITCH-funded, Shibboleth-driven implementation framework, the opportunity for an integration of AMAAIS results into the Shibboleth project becomes feasible. The new implementation framework – which became available in mid February 2012, hence, when the implementation phase of the ongoing project Phase 3 had just started – is fully supported by all project partners due to its strong focus a fully functional, well tested and trialed, and Shibboleth-compatible solution. It is important to note that the planning of AMAAIS Phase 4 is fully in-line content-wise with the AMAAIS Phase 3 planning. This means that all Phase 3 tasks (the design of a charging component, the security analysis, the visualization extensions, and the trials) beyond the implementa-tion are still in place.

Deliverables

AMAAIS Phase 1: Scenarios, Requirements, and High-Level Architecture; Deliverable 1, October 2009.

AMAAIS Phase 2: Architecture Design and Implementation; Deliverable 2, January 2011.

AMAAIS Phase 3: Workflows, Accounting Model, and API; Deliverable 3, December 2011.

AMAAIS Phase 4: Final Solution Documentation and Trial Results; Deliverable 4, April 2013.

Access to the AMAAIS SVN

The SVN of AMAAIS is maintained by CSG@UZH. Below there are the directories with public access. The public access requires username/password that is amaais/amaais, respectively.

The prototype implemented on Phase 2 can also be checked out from the SVN repository. The code produced is not for production purposes and is limited. Any technical question should be forwarded to the project contact.

The final AMAAIS solution can be found in the AMAAIS Maven repository.
