Exercises

The files provided below may only be downloaded from a subnetwork of the University of Zurich's network. Thus, please use a VPN client from the outside. Information on the VPN setup can be found here.

Exercise sheets are released Wednesdays until 7 pm. An exercise sheet mostly addresses the content of that days lecture. After the release at least one week is available to complete the exercise and submit the solution. Submission is done via e-mail (see below). The exercise is discussed in the exercise session of the day of the submission deadline. Therefore, solutions have to be submitted before the begin of the exercise session. There will be ten exercises in total.

Exercises of this lecture are obligatory for all students, who want to achieve successful participation in the written or oral exam. In order to judge individual understandings of exercise contents, tutors may ask students at any time and unexpected to present their solution. To be possibly successful in the written examination, every student must:

• Submit in due time adequate solutions for at least seven (7) out of the nine (9) exercises
• Attend in at least seven (7) of the nine (9) exercise sessions
• Present solutions when requested during the exercise sessions, while being present

In case the requirements of the exercise do not be met by students, reduction of grades can be made (e.g., -10% in the final grade). Individual feedback will not be provided for the exercises, which requires that students attend the exercise class to validate their answers.

After solving an exercise students send an email with attributes specified by the table below and the respective solution (in PDF-format) to the exercise coordinator Muriel Franco until 12 pm (latest by 23:59:59) the Tuesday before the exercise discussion. Depending on their solution students might be asked in exercise sessions to present parts of it. At justified absence (illness or conscription/WK) students shall contact the tutor and hand in an official affirmation (attestation, march order).
